Biography
Cathy Felter grew up in the San Francisco bay area and has been involved in both choral and solo work in such far ranging activities as competing at the California Music Educators Association Festival in solo classical performance (3 years), roles in musical theater, a member of a small Madrigal group, a member of the “Dogtown Singers-a small jazz choir, and a member of a performing guitar folk trio. She has studied music at Diablo Valley College, the University of California at Berkeley, the Jazzschool, and JazzCamp West.
Her repertoire embraces the masters of the genre: Duke Ellington, Antonio Carlos Jobim, Jerome Kern, Cole Porter, Johnny Mercer, Hoagy Carmichael, Billie Holliday, Benny Carter, Sammy Cahn, Bob Dorough, Harold Arlen, to name a few.
Cathy’s vocal style is characterized by a warm, rich contralto voice that is filled with heart. You should hear her sing!
